Today's mission-critical IT applications host a variety of demanding processes for enabling enterprise services such as decision management, business integration and real-time analytics. These business processes are often data- or cpu-intensive in nature, presenting an application scalability challenge. One common challenge area is the rules engine often embedded in applications. These rules engines manage complex business decision logic and must be scalable and reliable in an easily managed way.
At JavaOne we will be demonstrating a fabric-based implementation of a financial risk assessment application using the JBoss Drools rule engine. Initially, this compute intensive application ran under the Spring Framework on Apache Tomcat. With no code changes, we took advantage of Appistry EAF's support for Spring, and deployed the business rules to the fabric, providing scalability and reliability to the application without rearchitecture.
