Appistry Recognized for Contribution to $72 Million Mizzou Capital Campaign
Cloud Computing Leader Provided Technology Worth $2M to School of Engineering
St. Louis, MO, April 20, 2009 -- Appistry, an early pioneer in cloud computing, has been recognized by the University of Missouri (Mizzou) for its contribution valued at $2M to the College of Engineering’s $72M capital campaign. Along with other corporate donors AT&T, Ameren, and WindRiver, Appistry is being recognized as Mizzou celebrates campus-wide the completion of its eight year capital campaign. During the Engineering celebration on Apr. 24 at 6:30 at the Donor Recognition Gallery, Lafferre Hall, Appistry will be recognized with a plaque to be displayed on the College’s engineering walls.
"The project that Mizzou has pursued using Appistry’s cloud computing platform has garnered national attention for its innovations, particularly the work in imagery search, whereby a small piece of imagery can be used to search the web for larger pieces, in the same way you would use a phrase to find full documents on a particular topic," said Kevin Haar, CEO of Appistry. "This technology is poised to be a game-changer, and the researchers and students involved should be proud of their work. As a St. Louis company, we benefit when Mizzou graduates world-class engineers."
"The powerful platform that Appistry has provided to us has tremendous value in terms of what it has allowed our students and researchers to do. Appistry’s CloudIQ is an extremely advanced platform that will make application management in public, private and hybrid clouds a reality," said Dean of Engineering Jim Thompson. We have been very happy with our experience using Appistry’s computing platform and are grateful for the contribution to our campaign."
Along with key individual donors and the three corporate donors, Kevin Haar will speak at the engineering event on April 24.
