Appistry Positioned in the Visionaries Quadrant in Enterprise Application Servers Magic Quadrant
Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute
ST. LOUIS, MO - June 12, 2008 - Appistry, the pioneer and leading provider of application fabric software, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Visionaries Quadrant in the 2Q2008 Enterprise Application Servers Magic Quadrant report.1
"In my opinion, Gartner's positioning of Appistry in the visionaries quadrant serves as further proof that technologies like Appistry Enterprise Application Fabric (EAF) are steadily gaining industry momentum by helping companies more effectively address sizeable increases in data volume for larger audiences," said Kevin Haar, CEO of Appistry. "I believe this also reinforces the benefits we bring to the developers in our Open Distribution program - they are able to take full advantage of our commercially supported product for free!"
Appistry's flagship product - Appistry Enterprise Application Fabric (EAF) helps companies meet the challenge of developing and deploying today's Internet-scale applications. Appistry EAF is a grid-based application platform that makes it very easy to scale-out CPU- and data-intensive applications across a virtualized grid of commodity servers. Unlike traditional grid products based on legacy scheduler technology, Appistry EAF's robust "fabric" architecture has no single point of failure and is well suited for extreme transaction processing (XTP), software-as-a-service (SaaS), cloud computing, and other data- and CPU-intensive applications.
Vendors were evaluated on their ability to execute, which included an evaluation of the vendor's product/service, overall viability, sales execution and pricing, among other criteria, and the completeness of vision, which included market understanding, marketing strategy and sales strategy, among other criteria.
According to the Gartner report, "Most of the vendors in the Visionaries quadrant are relatively small innovators, invested in excelling with a highly differentiated variation of an EAS offering, usually at the expense of a lesser breadth of the total offering when compared with established, comprehensive products. Some vendors are attempting to introduce a radically new approach to the market, while others are addressing some limitations of mainstream options."
