Appistry Showcases Scalable Platform for Geospatial Intelligence at
GEOINT 2007 Symposium
New Product Updates, Partnerships Facilitate Next-Generation Geospatial Intelligence Applications
San Antonio, Texas (GEOINT 2007 Symposium, Booth 119), October 22, 2007-The launch of high resolution satellites and a proliferation of other sources are driving an explosion in the volume of data available to the geospatial intelligence community. At the same time, today's global security environment demands real-time data processing and dissemination to reduce latency in intelligence generation and delivery. Appistry's flagship product, Appistry Enterprise Application Fabric (EAF), simplifies the delivery of software capable of meeting these new requirements.
At GEOINT 2007 Symposium, Appistry unveiled new product capabilities and partnerships that make it even easier for customers to create highly capable geospatial intelligence applications. In addition, the company will host live demonstrations of customer and partner applications based on Appistry EAF. Demonstrations will feature GEOINT applications by industry leaders Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI), ESRI and GeoEye running on a virtualized fabric of Dell 1950 and 2950 servers.
"Appistry envisions a new breed of geospatial applications that are extremely agile, infinitely scalable and much less expensive to deliver than those of the past," said Kevin Haar, Appistry chief executive officer. "By providing a platform that makes these qualities easy to attain, we've empowered our customers and partners to help us deliver on this vision. We're excited to showcase their successes here at GEOINT."
Appistry EAF 3.7 Announced
Appistry EAF 3.7, announced today at GEOINT 2007 Symposium, introduces "Affinity"-a new product capability influenced by the company's work building next-generation geospatial intelligence applications with customers such as GeoEye. Affinity enables a new generation of faster, more powerful GEOINT applications by removing the barriers that traditionally separate data from the computers that process it. (See "Appistry Announces EAF 3.7 with New ‘Affinity' Feature," announced separately today.)
Demonstrating the Power of Partnerships
Appistry EAF allows customers and partners-leading system integrators, ISVs and service providers-to easily bring new capabilities to market without the complexity and long development cycles of traditional approaches.
In partnership with AGI, ESRI, GeoEye, Dell and Microsoft, Appistry will be demonstrating fabric-based geospatial intelligence applications at GEOINT 2007 Symposium:
- Navigation Analyst Demonstration with AGI
Navigation Analyst is a reference application built using AGI's Dynamic Geometry Library. It determines the location of all GPS satellites and computes GPS navigation accuracy (i.e., Dilution of Precision) as a function of date, time, location, and GPS receiver specification. Marrying AGI's Dynamic Geometry Library with Appistry EAF results in a highly robust implementation that scales directly with the number of processors available.
"AGI is very excited about its new Dynamic Geometry Library, which lets us deliver our technology on any platform and in any form factor," said Kevin Flood, AGI vice president of product management and support. "The integration with Appistry's EAF is a great example of that, and it also demonstrates the potential for superior robustness and scalability for applications built using the Dynamic Geometry Library."
- World's Fastest Geocoding Demonstration with ESRI
Appistry and ESRI demonstrate the world's fastest geocoding solution, based entirely on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software. Appistry EAF provides a platform for a highly scalable geocoding application based on ESRI's ArcGIS. (See "Appistry Demonstrates World's Fastest Geocoding Solution at GEOINT 2007," announced separately today.)
"With the explosion in available geospatial data, the ability to quickly manipulate it in high volumes has never been more crucial," says Chris Cappelli, director of sales, ESRI. "Appistry's ability to take ArcGIS-based processes and easily scale them across many computers creates exciting new opportunities for organizations that depend on geographic information."
- Quickly and Reliably Processing Massive Amounts of Image Data with GeoEye
GeoEye implemented Appistry EAF in order to better manage the increasing complexity of developing and operating its GEOINT applications. The Appistry platform provides GeoEye with greater development simplicity, effortless scalability, enhanced reliability and reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) due to low hardware acquisition and maintenance costs.
"Appistry's platform takes the complexity out of large-scale computing, allowing us to get new products to market much more quickly than before," said Ray Helmering, vice president of product engineering at GeoEye. "By relying on the application fabric to provide scalability, reliability and manageability, we can leave our infrastructure concerns behind and focus on providing maximum value to our customers."
New Deployment Partners
To aid customers in the delivery of next-generation geospatial intelligence applications based on Appistry EAF, the company announced new partnerships with leading solution providers serving the GEOINT community:
- Next Century's Strategic InsightTM solutions integrate situational awareness, at-a-glance analysis, decision support and collaboration to provide highly intuitive and actionable information to geospatial intelligence decision makers.
- SPADAC's customers rely on its predictive analysis products and services to make better decisions faster, leveraging patented technologies, visualization services and domain expertise.
